TSSA Legacy Safety Award

Markham District Energy (MDE) formally received the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) 2020 Organizational Legacy Safety Award at the TSSA’s virtual Annual General Meeting held October 22, 2020. The Award recognizes MDE for its leadership in making safety a priority in the workplace and for the organization’s dedication to sharing safety knowledge and experiences with employees.

System of the Year

The International District Energy Association presented Markham District Energy with the 2013 System of the Year Award on June 4 during ceremonies at its 104th Annual Conference & Trade Show in Miami, Fla. The highest honour the association can confer on a district energy system, the award recognizes exemplary system efficiency and environmental stewardship, outstanding performance in the areas of safety and reliability and overall commitment to excellence in customer service and industry engagement.

Donald Cousens Conservation and Environmental Leadership Award

The Markham Board of Trade presented Markham District Energy with the Donald Cousens Conservation and Environmental Leadership Award for its leadership in delivering environmental solutions to Markham at its annual Business Excellence Awards Gala.

Markham received the Federal Gas Tax Award from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario for its innovative investment in district energy utilizing federal government infrastructure funding.
